quotes The "ecologica"l is political these days. Those trail were harming nothing and no-one. But that doesn't stop them from using the 'ecology' as an excuse to bully people.

quotes You can vote Republican in your state too you know. The WA state senator who sent a request to delay this action is a Republican after all. There is more to politics than who is president.

quotes You got it the wrong way, buddy. Government at all levels has expanded exponentially under Obama. This is a result of government being too big, trampling on freedom, not the other way around.

quotes Some of the best trails in the world, that most people never got to ride. Shame.

quotes You know, the Whatcom county and the Chamber of commerce should sue the DNR and the individuals responsible for this for lost revenue and misappropriation of public funds. First there is no way the action of the DNR is legal without any public input. They can't just spend money with no unaccountability. Second Mountain biking might not bee seen as a big money maker, but considering the tiny size of the towns and restaurants in the area, there is a significant economic impact. People would travel from all over the country to ride those trails; they already did, even with the trails being secret as they were. Imagine if people actually knew about it. Look at the success of Whistler for example. Those businesses and the county have a right to recover the potential future earning lost as damages as a result of the DNR's illegal actions in a civil lawsuit. Letters are great, and Yes, folks should be civil towards the DNR, but I also believe that the people of Bellingham, Whatcom Co and people all over who care about this need to get tough with these corrupt government officials and make sure that they are held accountable for their actions, and that includes the available use of legal remedies. We are talking days here people, before this can be stopped.

quotes Redrook, I've known many of the SUWA people over the years. I use do be one of them. I can tell you that they are SCUMBAGS. They will lie and cheat to get what they want. If you are not in total agreement with them, they will try to destroy your reputation in the most heinous way. They are not 'in the know'. Most of them are very naive and idealistic. They are greedy and political and will stop at nothing to ruin the access that we have to these beautiful areas. Please don't pretend to know something about which you know nothing. It's not about protecting the landscape for them, but rather about control and telling people what they can and can't do. Mountainbiking is doomed if even mountainbikers can't or won't defend their right to access the land. Mountainbiking in the USA is doomed if mountainbikers themselves are not educated about the horrible impact that Wilderness designations will have on the future of the sport here.

quotes Euros stay out of American politics please, you've screwed up your countries as it is, don't screw up ours.

quotes Hey REDROOK and rbeach, if American style wilderness were designated in Whistler, MOUNTAIN BIKING WOULD BE BANNED, as in AGAINST THE LAW, meaning YOU COULD GO TO JAIL FOR IT. I don't know how hard that is for your puny Eurotrash CHAV brain to understand. American style Wilderness designation has nothing to do with Whistler, so don't even compare the two. The American and Canadian systems of land management are completely different. In America you can protect the land WITHOUT wilderness designations, but you CANNOT have wilderness designations and have Mountain biking, because in an American Wilderness designation mountain biking is NOT ALLOWED in the wilderness area. That in no way is conducive to or good for mountainbiking. Speak only about things you understand fool.

quotes The Utah State legislature is very friendly to multiple-use land policy. It is the Feds, and pro-wilderness environmental movements that are the problem.
